Understanding & Strenghthening Child & Adolescent Wellbeing
A 60-minute learning session that helps you understand what wellbeing truly means for a child, and how to begin strengthening it so you can share this knowledge with your child and help them flourish. We explore the key pathways that support flourishing during childhood and early adolescence. Higher wellbeing is linked to better relationships, positive behaviour, resilience, and long-term academic and professional success.
In this session, you will learn the knowledge and tools of wellbeing—so you can begin to teach them to your child and help them become more independent in strengthening their own wellbeing.
This is not about becoming a “perfect” role model. In reality, even when you try your best, there will be moments where things don’t go as planned. Children don’t need perfection. In fact, striving to be perfect can feel exhausting and unrealistic. What they benefit from most is not flawless modelling, but shared understanding.
When you understand wellbeing—the language, the strategies, and the ideas behind it—you can begin to teach it. You can say, “This is something I’m learning too—we’ll figure it out together.”
Over time, something important begins to shift. There will be moments when you forget to apply what you’ve learned—and your child will remind you. That’s when your child is no longer just observing you—they are understanding, remembering, and beginning to apply it themselves.
This is how children become more independent in strengthening their own wellbeing—not because their parent is perfect, but because wellbeing becomes something they understand, practise, and carry with them.
Many parents sense that their child is “not quite themselves,” less connected, or disengaged. These changes often appear during school transitions and pubertal shifts.
This is not uncommon. Research worldwide shows that many adolescents begin experiencing declines in wellbeing and increased challenges during academic and developmental transitions — yet wellbeing knowledge and skills are rarely taught or explained, even though they are essential for young people to flourish.
Parents want their children to flourish, but are rarely given a roadmap. They are left wondering:
“How do I help my child develop the skills they need to experience wellbeing and thrive?”
Parents often have:
• no roadmap
• no clarity
• no shared language
• no understanding of wellbeing components
• no idea what strengthens or weakens wellbeing
• no reliable place to learn wellbeing science
Meanwhile, their child is going through:
• identity changes
• school changes
• peer changes
• developmental transitions
…and parents feel alone in guiding them.
This learning session fills that gap.
Inside the session, you will learn:
• What wellbeing REALLY means for your child
• The core pathways that support wellbeing
• How wellbeing can be nurtured at home
• The essential wellbeing skills children need
• How transitions (grade / school) influence wellbeing — and how to prepare your child
What you leave with:
By the end of the session, you will have:
• a clear understanding of adolescent wellbeing
• clarity on the essential pathways that support flourishing
• a simple framework you can apply at home
• direction on how to strengthen wellbeing in daily life
• insight into how transitions affect your child — and how to prepare and support them
This session gives you clarity, direction, and a research-informed roadmap based on years of work with adolescents.
